Biography

Shi Ningzhong, male, Han nationality, was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province and is a native of Yixing, Jiangsu Province. He is a member of the CPC. He was a laborer in Jilin Province from 1968 to 1972 and graduated from the Mathematics Department of Jilin Normal University (now Northeast Normal University) in 1975. He received a master's degree and doctorate degree from the same school and began a career there that took him from professor in the Mathematics Department, to vice-president and president.

Shi has been visiting scholar at Newfoundland University in Canada, at Hitotsubashi University in Japan and at the National University in Singapore. He has been convenor of the Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics Teaching Steering Group, member of the National Natural Science Foundation Committee, vice-chairman of the Jilin Mathematical Society and representative to Jilin No. 9 People's Congress
