Jiang Shusheng, male, Han nationality, is a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu province. He was born in 1940 and graduated from Nanjing University. He became president of Nanjing University in 1997.
As a famous physicist in China, he has achieved profound results in the research fields of X-ray diffraction, application of synchrotron radiation, micro-structure, defects and phase transition in crystals and film materials, periodic and quasiperiodic metallic superlattice, and exchange layer coupling and GMR in magnetic films. He has published over 200 academic papers. He is also responsible for ten National Natural Sciences Foundation Projects (including one key project and one ongoing great project), and four Science and Technology Projects under the Ministry of Education.
In 2008 he became Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th NPC.
