Biography

Ge Lei, male, Han nationality, graduated from the Telecommunications Engineering Department at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 1962.

Ge remained at his alma mater, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications to work in several departments. He was chairman of the management-engineering department and later served as the deputy director in the planning office.

At the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, he directed the education department, the planning department, and the telecommunications administrative department. In 1998, he left the ministry to become the chairman of Guoxin Paging. At the company, he also assumed general manager responsibilities.

Two years later, in 2000, Ge was appointed as director of China United Telecommunications Corporation. He later was named a non-executive director at the corporation.
