Fan Boyuan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Tianjin. He was born in 1945, graduated from Tsinghua University, and received a doctorate in engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology in 1987. He is a professor of mechanical engineering.
Fan Boyuan has focused his research on thermodynamic processes and emission controls of supercharged diesels. He specializes in the field of electronic controls for internal combustion engines. His work has been widely recognized in the field of diesel engine research. He was among the researchers who invented the now widely used Simulated Test Bed for internal combustion engines. He has published two books and more than 40 papers, and he has been awarded several prizes and awards at the national and ministerial levels.
Fan Boyuan was appointed president of the Beijing Institute of Technology in 2004.
