Dong Houde, male, Han nationality, is a native of Rongcheng, Shandong Province. He was born in 1935 and graduated from Northeast Normal University in 1955.
Dong is an expert in ecological education research, a field he has studied for more than forty years. His work on vegetation maps and district divisions won him a first prize from the Liaoning provincial government in 1987. Dong's Liaoning land resources atlas and agricultural resources atlas won him second and first prizes from the provincial government in 1989 and 1990 respectively.
A professor and graduate student at Liaoning University, Dong directed the university's Institute of Ecological Environments.
