Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, female, winner of Great Bauhinia Medal in 2016, is a native of Hong Kong. She was born in Hong Kong in 1957. After she graduated from St. Francis' Canossian College (SFCC), she entered Hong Kong University to study Social Science. After she graduated from Hong Kong University, Lam joined the civil service in 1980 and has served in various bureaus and departments. She was the Chief Secretary under the Leung Chun-ying administration since 2012. In April 2017, she was elected Chief Executive-designate of Hong Kong SAR.
