An Zhisheng, male, Han nationality, is a native of Zhijing, Hunan Province. His ancestral home is in Liu'an, Anhui Province. He graduated from Nanjing University in 1962.
An Zhisheng's research interests include loess and the environment, stratigraphy, palaeoclimatology and palaeopedology, magnetostratigraphy and micromorphology. He has been a member of the academic community and has served as the director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
