Zuo Zongshen, Han nationality, is a native of Shanghai. He was born in 1952 and graduated from junior high school.
In 1958, Zuo Zongshen was sent to the countryside for labor exercises during the Great Leap Forward Movement. When the Cultural Revolution ended, he returned to the city and worked as a kilnman in Chongqing Ceramics Factory. He later opened a bike maintenance business and founded Zongshen Motorcycle Technology Development Corporation.
