Zhu Qingshi, male, Han nationality, is a native of Chengdu, Sichuan province. He was born in 1946, and graduated from the physics department of the University of Science and Technology of China. He was president of the University of Science and Technology of China from 1998 until 2008 and he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991.
Professor Zhu won the Thompson Memorial Award established by the international academic journal Spectrochimica Acta, as well as several other awards. The Soka University of Japan awarded him with an honorary doctoral degree in recognition of his achievements.
