Zhan Wenlong, male, Han nationality, is a native of
Xiamen, Fujian province. He was born in 1955, and graduated from Lanzhou University. He is a nuclear
physicist and academician.
His research includes heavy ion physics and the
mega-science project of accelerators in the range from
low to relative energy. He merged the research of
incomplete deep inelastic scattering, new isotopes
synthesis, new isotopes mass measurement, the TOF
prototype of RHIC-PHENIX, and radioactive ion beam
separators. He leads the national mega-science project
entitled "Cooling Storage Ring Bases on a Heavy Ion
Research Facility in Lanzhou".
He was elected as vice-president of the Chinese
Academy of Sciences in 2008, and he also served as an
alternate member of the 17th CPC Central Committee in
2008.
