Samding, female, Tibetan nationality, is a native of Nyemo County, Tibet. She was born in 1942 and became a living Buddha in 1947. She was kidnapped abroad in 1959 and later returned to China. She is a permanent council member of the Buddhist Association of China.
Samding is a prominent Tibetan Buddhist. She has been active on CPPCC Tibet Autonomous Region Committees and in National Buddhist organizations. She was vice-president of the Tibet Branch of the Buddhist Association of China from 1980 to1986.
Samding was a deputy to the 5th and 6th NPC, a member of the 5th CPPCC National Committee. She was a standing committee member of the 7th, 8th and 9th CPPCC National Committees.
