Lu Jiaxi, male, Han nationality, is a native of Xiamen, Fujian Province. He was born in 1915, studied at London University and California Institute of Technology.
Lu began his career in academia. He served as a professor and administrator at Xiamen University prior to becoming Vice-President of Fuzhou University. In 1981, he became president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. An active member of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, Lu served in various leadership roles in that party.
Lu was vice-chairman of the 8th NPC. He also was a standing committee member of the 6th CPPCC National Committee and vice-chairman of the 7th and 9th CPPCC National Committee.
