Li Tieying, male, Han nationality, is a native of Changsha, Hunan Province. He was born in 1936, joined the CPC in 1955 and studied in Czechosolvakia.
Li spent most of his career as a worker and manager in the Ministry of Electronics Industry. In 1985, he became minister of the Ministry of Electronics Industry. He later became involved in several economic reform activities, serving as minister of the State Commission for Restructuring the Economy and head of the State Council Housing System Reform Leading Group.
Li was a co-opted member of the 12th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 13th, 14th, and 15th CPC Central Committees. He was a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee until 2002.
