Li Ling, female, Han nationality, was born in 1958, graduated from Wuhan University with a master's degree in economics and physics, and received a doctorate in economics from the University of Pittsburg in the USA.
She has taught at Wuhan University and Towson State University in the USA, where she became a tenured professor in 2000. She is currently deputy director of the academic committee of the China Center for Economic Research of Beijing University.
