Gao Qiang, male, Han nationality, is a native of Yanshan, Hebei province. He was born in 1944, and graduated from the Renmin University of China. Gao started to work in 1967 and joined the CPC in July 1978. Gao is a senior economist. Gao has spent his career primarily at the Ministry of Finance, where he served as director of the Financial Budget Administration Department prior to being elected executive vice-minister in 2003.
He became a Vice-Chairman of the Subcommittee for Handling Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee in 2003 and Minister of Health in 2005. In 2007 he became a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
