Lu Yongxiang, male, Han nationality, is a native of Cixi City, Zhejiang Province. He was born in 1942, joined the CPC in 1974 and graduated from Zhejiang University and Aachen Industrial University, obtaining his doctorate in 1981.
In the 1980's Lu held positions in the Institute of Science and Technology at Zhejiang University. In 1991, Lu became vice-president of the 4th National Congress of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology. He served as vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences until 1997.
Lu Yongxiang was an alternate member of the 12th and 13th CPC Central Committees and a member of the 14th-16th CPC Central Committees. He is currently a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee and Vice-Chairman of the 11th NPC Standing Committee.
