Liu Yanhua, male, Han nationality, is a native of Beijing. He was born in 1950, and graduated from the Natural Geology Program of the University of Science and Technology of China with a master's degree, and obtained a doctorate from the Chinese Academy of Science. Liu has held posts in the office of geography at the Academy, including director and doctoral supervisor. From 2001-2009 he served as vice-minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
