Biography

Li Chengyu, male, Hui nationality, is a native of Haiyuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. He was born in 1946, and received a junior college education at the Central Party School. Li joined the CPC in 1971 and started to work in 1971. Li held leading positions in his native Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, where he served as commissioner of Yinnan prefecture until 1988. Subsequently he served as vice-chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region People's Government.

Li Chengyu was appointed deputy secretary of the Henan Provincial CPC Committee in 1998, and served as governor of Henan province in 2003. He was a delegate to the 9th NPC and an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.

He is currently a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee and Director of All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives Council.
