Shang Yong, male, Han nationality, is a native of Shandong province. He was born in 1957, and graduated from the Shandong Mining Institute, where he earned a doctorate. Shang was a lecturer and associate professor of the graduate department of China Mining University. Subsequently he was promoted to deputy director of the department. He served as deputy director and chief of the Policies and Regulation Office of the State Science and Technology Commission. He is currently serving as vice-minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
