Liu Jingnan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Chongqing. He was born in 1943, and obtained a B.A. and a master's degree in geodesy from the Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping. In 1999, Dr. Liu was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
In the late 1980's, Liu focused his research on satellite positioning technology, GPS networks and city control networks, and the application of GPS technology in the construction of major infrastructures. His research achievements have won national and provincial awards. Liu was appointed president of Wuhan University in 2003.
