Biography

Li Youwei, male, Han nationality, is a native of Xinmin, Liaoning Province. He was born in 1938, graduated from Jilin University in 1964, and joined the CPC in 1966.

Li began his Party career in Hubei Province eventually becoming vice-governor of the province. In 1990 he became the deputy secretary of the CPC Shenzhen City Committee, which launched his six-year career in Shenzhen City government, culminating as Party secretary of the Shenzhen City Committee. On the national level, Li is the vice-chairman of the Subcommittee for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese and on the standing committee of the 9th CPPCC National Committee.

Li was an alternate member of the 14th and 15th CPC Central Committees. He is a member of the standing committee of the 9th CPPCC National Committee.
