Li Yong, male, Han nationality, is a native of Jining, Shandong province. He joined the CPC in 1973, and graduated from the Research Institute for Fiscal Science of the Ministry of Finance with a master's degree in economics. He served as first and second secretary to the United Nations Mission from China, and served as director-general of the World Bank Department of the Ministry of Finance until 1996. He was promoted to vice-minister in 2003.
