Hu Yongzhu, male, Han nationality, is a native of Quxian county, Sichuan province. He was born in 1944, joined the PLA in 1962, and joined the CPC in 1964. He was promoted to the rank of major general in 1991, and lieutenant general in 2001. Hu served successively as a scouts platoon leader, deputy company commander, political instructor, and head of the organization section of the regimental political department. Hu was appointed director of the political department of the Chengdu Military Region in 2000.
Hu Yongzhu is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committees.
