Chen Zhu, male, Han nationality, is a native of Shanghai. His ancestral home is in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. He was born in 1953 and received a Master's from the Shanghai Second Medical Sciences University in 1981.
Chen Zhu is a leading hematology expert and an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences molecular biologist. He is distinguished in hemophilia classification, diagnosis, and hereditary consultation. As the only Chinese member of the International Hemophilia League Chen has
conducted initiative research into the human T cell recipient (TCR) gene's structure and expression and elaborated the No.22 chromosome breakage point and cluster area, while establishing the BCR-ABL reorganized molecular model in Ph chromosome accompanying acute leukemia. Chen is one of the chief scientists in the gene cloning and DNA-sequencing.
Chen Zhu served as vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2000 - 2007.
